Earn College Credit in High School

×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´ provides opportunities for high school students in its district to take college-level courses before graduating from high school. These state-supported opportunities are known asÌýdual creditÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýdual enrollmentÌýcourses. In partnership with local school districts, ×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´ offers these courses in response to the educational needs that school administrators have identified for their students.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is not available to dual credit/dual enrollment students; however, dual credit/dual enrollment classes count as credits attempted/completed and are included when determining a student’s academic progress and eligibility for futureÌýfinancial aid.

College Credit

Dual Enrollment coursesÌýare held at ×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´. Only college credit is awarded to the student. Credits appear on the students’ ×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´ transcript, and can be applied toward degrees and certificates at ×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´ or transferred to other colleges or universities.

Registration For Dual Credit

How to register as a dual credit student

  1. Meet with your high school counselor to obtain permission to apply to the program.
  2. Apply to ×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´. This is only needed the first time you take college classes.
  3. Complete Placement Testing. Take the placement test in English, reading and mathematics. Qualifying ACT or SAT scores may be used in lieu of the placement test.
  4. Take the completed High School Student Registration Form to your high school counselor to register for courses. This form requires your signature and the signatures of your parent/guardian and a high school official. You MUST complete this form EACH semester you wish to take dual enrollment/dual credit courses.
  5. Pay tuition if required. Contact your high school counselor about costs and possible tuition assistance.
  6. If you want to receive high school credit in addition to college credit for the course, it is your responsibility to contact your high school.

Home-schooled students:ÌýFollow same procedure as above except parent/guardian completes form as school official.

Career Education Options in High School

Are you a high school student looking for a path to a career, certificate or associate degree? If so, dual credit Career and Technical Education (CTE) is just for you! In addition to college-credit classes, ×îÐÂÂ鶹ԭ´´ offers dual credit opportunities in partnership with local high schools and the Area Career Center providing pathways to academic and technical skills that lead to successful careers. Students who are juniors or seniors and meet minimum placement test scores and/or course prerequisites are eligible for dual credit courses.
